Example
C applied for a community care grant following a significant fire in their home.
The council awarded a range of items. However, C requested a review of the decision not to award some of the items assessed as not high priority.
We reviewed the council's file and spoke with C. C explained that they a history of hoarding and outlined the support currently in place to help improve personal care and living circumstances. C also described the positive steps being taken to socialise more and to maintain mental and physical wellbeing.
Based on new information provided by C, we changed the council’s decision to award additional seating so that C could accommodate support workers and visitors, helping to reduce isolation. We also awarded bedroom storage furniture to help prevent a return to hoarding behaviours.
